Strategic sourcing at a vehicle supplier
For historical reasons, a major automotive supplier used a broad range of metal flexible parts across its European manufacturing locations. Each plant historically developed their own references, albeit belonging to the same family of end applications.
We carefully selected and supervised a partner as part of a standardisation exercise and established cooperation with each site and the central engineering department. This exercise not only enabled the creation of a new standard but significantly reduced the number of parts and hence lead to double-digit savings due to higher scale effects.
